Campaign.sav
SaveGames\Campaign.sav。 -
How I Recovered My ACE COMBAT 8 Save
My save was reported as corrupted and my progress reset. Steam Cloud had already synced the reset file, so I recovered an older Campaign.sav through Windows Previous Versions. Replacing it restored my progress.
- Close the game and disable Steam Cloud for it. Copy the current
SaveGamesfolder somewhere safe first. - Paste
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment\ACE COMBAT 8\Savedinto File Explorer. Right-clickSaveGamesand select Properties → Previous Versions. - Choose a version from before the corruption and click Open. Copy its
Campaign.savelsewhere. My November 5, 12:57 snapshot contained a campaign file last modified on October 31 at 00:25 (China time). - With the current files backed up, replace
SaveGames\Campaign.savwith the recovered copy. - Launch with cloud sync still off and check your missions, aircraft and funds. Back up the working save. If you later re-enable cloud sync and get a conflict, keep the verified local progress.
My reset file was about 14 KB; the recovered one was about 480 KB. File size is only a clue, and Replay*.sav files cannot directly replace the campaign save. This method requires an existing historical copy; enabling backups now will not recreate an older save.
